Ohio has some of the strongest laws related to dog breeding and in many ways is a "model for the rest of the country". On this website is a list of breeders that recognize the importance of canine welfare and have voluntarily gone above and beyond what the law requires. Doing so sets a new standard for what a responsible breeder should claim to be. Specifically, they have taken the steps necessary to become Canine Care Certified. This certification was developed with scientific research conducted by the Purdue University College Of Veterinary Medicine with the goal "To help people make informed decisions and to do our part to help protect the welfare of dogs coming from professional dog breeders."
